About me
Hi, I'm Kristina Van. I've emigrated three times since I was fourteen. That taught me three things: how to be at home in cultures that aren't mine, how to figure out money, relationships, health and work on my own, and how to talk to people in the language they actually experience the world in — without judging anything for being unfamiliar.
Professionally
1200+ hours of individual counselling and group therapy
100+ hours of individual and group supervision
50+ hours of coaching sessions
6 years of personal and family therapy
Led intervision groups and built a professional-growth programme for early-career psychologists
Ran a retreat in the mountains of Saxony
Before psychology I ran a product business at 16, worked in modelling and talent management from 17 to 25, then media production and project management from 23 to 27. At 28, after covid and a personal crisis, I finally came to the thing I'd been circling since university.
Off duty
When I take the psychologist's coat off I'm a fairly ordinary person, and in some ways the opposite of my professional self. I can be blunt. I interrupt. I'm not always up for a long story. I like taking up space. I get manic, anxious, foggy, tired. My biggest challenge is productivity and analysis that run well past the point of reasonable.
Travelling with my husband and friends — hotels one week, a tent under a meteor shower the next
Hiking, sport, karaoke, and cooking as my main love language
Asking strangers to translate the German and to take my photo
Rooibos tea by the litre, sunset lamps packed for every trip
Supporting women-owned businesses, being moved by small birds
Raising my husband's dog from his first marriage
I also grew up in a dysfunctional family, which is where I learned to read a room very well — to catch a mood shift in an intonation, a pause, or the weight in the air.
How I work
Integrative, with a psychodynamic lean. In Russian and English, through a feminist lens.
I listen to more than the words
Not only what you say, but how you say it, what you're telling me without words, and what you're not saying. I'm present both as a person in the conversation and in a meta-position — noticing what dynamic you bring and what unfolds between us.
I don't insist that I'm right
I offer a perspective and my experience, not a diagnosis. Disagree with me, argue with me — that's encouraged.
Don't forget your right to say stop
At any moment you can turn the temperature down or close a topic entirely. Therapy doesn't have to mean forcing depth or chasing insights. Presence and being witnessed turn out to move people remarkably far.
I keep my own lens clean
That's what my own therapy, intervision and supervision are for.
The frame outside is clear
Maximum freedom inside the session, which rests on what we agree between us: a fixed weekly or fortnightly slot, payment before, changes 48 hours ahead.
Feedback
Thank you for your deep acceptance, which supports me in getting to know myself, and for the questions that open up what I'd been hiding from myself.
Thank you for being an excellent specialist and for helping me resolve a pile of inner conflicts.
The thing I'm taking with me: loving yourself just means living. Such relief in that.
One meeting introduced me to my real self.

Let\'s talk
You can skip this step and book a session straight away. But there is also the option to talk first, or even schedule an intro call. Just text me about what's going on.
Psychological and coaching groups in person in Berlin
Online groups, one-off or monthly, once each group is full
How it works
You pick a time that suits you, sign the agreement, and pay for the sessions you've chosen.
You join from a private place where nobody can interrupt, see or hear you.
Payments aren't refunded. Resistance and the urge to cancel are part of the process.
If you're late, the session still ends at the agreed time.
Everything is fully confidential.
I don't publish client cases and never use counselling clients for promotion.
Ending long-term work is discussed in session, with one closing session.
The full terms are in the agreement document I'll send you.
Q&A
Why is this safe?
I build a sealed, confidential space with no judgement and no scoring. I work strictly on the principle that the client is okay. I don't give advice and I don't decide for you what you should do — I ask questions, get to know you, and reflect back the things that are hard to see from the inside.
Will you definitely help me?
No, not definitely — no psychologist can guarantee that. We work on your wellbeing together, which means change needs you to want it and to do something new in that direction.
I won't be able to help if:
You don't take responsibility for your own life
Someone made you come to me
You want to change another person
What I don't work with
There are things outside my competence, and I'd rather say so before you book than halfway in.
Psychiatric diagnoses
Depression as the presenting request
Suicidal themes and self-harm as the presenting request
If any of that is what you're facing right now, please reach out to a psychiatrist or a crisis service — that's the right kind of help, and it exists.
What kinds of payment can you accept?
Sessions are paid at least 24 hours in advance.
Revolut, IBAN, SWIFT, PayPal, Monobank, crypto, WeChat and Alipay, Paysend.
Late cancellations are forfeit; earlier ones move to your next session.
If I raise my rates, existing clients and I discuss it individually.
Where can I see your diplomas and certificates?
Just right here.
Book a time
If none of these suit you, let me know a time that would, and I'll check whether my schedule allows it.
